Molcajete mortar and pestle – natural Mexican volcanic stone with pig motif

A classic stoneware molcajete hand-carved from volcanic rock which features a traditional pig-face motif.

Mexican mortar & pestles are particularly effective as their rough volcanic surface is perfect for grinding. This molcajete will also look great on display in your kitchen.

Used to grind spices and chiles, or to make the traditional guacamole or salsa.

Diameter of the bowl is aproximately 17.5cm (inside), 21cm (outside) and is 16cm high. As these are hand made size can vary, call if exact measurements required.

Please note: as this is a natural product, each will vary and have its own characteristics. Irregular surfaces, holes or bumps are all considered normal.

Aproximate weight is 6.3kg. As this is a very heavy item, be aware it could add considerable shipping cost.

Preparing your molcajete prior to first use:
With the pestle, grind raw rice inside the bowl until the rice turns grey.
Empty and repeat until the rice no longer turns grey and then rinse with water and scrub with a brush.
